SARG GOVERNANCE

Rules & Regulations

Operational and membership guidelines of the South Australian Repeater Group Inc.

Purpose

These Rules and Regulations support the Constitution of the South Australian Repeater Group Inc. (SARG) and provide practical guidance for members, committee members, operators and users of SARG-supported systems.

They are intended to promote safe, respectful and responsible participation in SARG activities and the appropriate use of amateur radio infrastructure.

1. Conduct of Members

Members are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful, cooperative and responsible manner when representing SARG or participating in SARG activities.

Harassment, threatening behaviour, deliberate interference, discrimination or behaviour likely to bring SARG into disrepute is not acceptable.

2. Use of SARG Radio Systems

Users of SARG repeater and communications systems are expected to operate in accordance with applicable Australian amateur radio requirements and accepted amateur radio operating practice.

Operators should identify appropriately, allow reasonable access to shared systems and avoid unnecessary interference or excessive occupation of shared channels.

3. Repeater & Network Infrastructure

Installation, maintenance, configuration or modification of SARG-owned or SARG-managed infrastructure must be authorised by the SARG Committee or an authorised technical representative.

This includes repeater equipment, antennas, networking equipment, controllers, servers, digital systems, APRS infrastructure, MeshCore systems and associated equipment.

4. Digital & Network Services

Users of SARG-supported digital and network services should use those systems responsibly and must not deliberately interfere with, damage, overload or compromise network infrastructure.

Access credentials, administrative accounts or configuration information supplied for technical purposes must not be shared without authorisation.

5. Equipment & Property

Equipment, tools, hardware and other property owned by SARG must only be used for authorised purposes.

Members responsible for SARG equipment should take reasonable care of that equipment and report any damage, failure or loss to the Committee.

6. Safety

Safety is a priority when undertaking installation, maintenance, testing or other technical activities associated with SARG.

Members must not undertake work for which they are not suitably experienced, authorised or qualified where such qualifications are required.

7. Privacy & Member Information

Personal information supplied to SARG for membership or administrative purposes should only be used for legitimate association activities and handled responsibly.

Member contact information should not be distributed outside the organisation without an appropriate reason or the member's consent, except where required by law.

8. Committee Decisions

The Committee is responsible for the administration of SARG in accordance with the Constitution and resolutions of the association.

Operational decisions relating to infrastructure, expenditure, technical systems and association activities may be made by the Committee in accordance with its authority.

9. Complaints & Disputes

Members are encouraged to raise concerns respectfully with the Committee so that matters can be considered fairly and appropriately.

Serious complaints or disputes will be considered in accordance with the SARG Constitution and any applicable association procedures.

10. Amendment of Rules

These operational rules may be reviewed and amended from time to time by the SARG Committee where permitted by the Constitution.

Any rule inconsistent with the SARG Constitution or applicable law will be subject to the Constitution and applicable law.

Important

These Rules & Regulations should be read together with the Constitution of the South Australian Repeater Group Inc. Where there is any inconsistency, the Constitution and applicable legislation take precedence.
